FAQ

What is the theme of the Zine?
Lionheart was conceived to be a KiriBaku fanfic anthology. Just like a short story anthology, this zine will be divided into four sections: Canonverse, Sci-Fi/Fantasy AUs, Quirkless/Misc AUs, and a separate NSFW add-on. Each section will be a miniature collection of fics, allowing the writers the freedom to work with plot, theme, and story elements within the setting/AU.
While the individual fics are not expected to incorporate the theme of “soulmates,” Lionheart — as a whole collection — exemplifies the bond between KiriBaku reaching across different universes and points in time.

Can I buy the Zine if I’m not 18 years old?
Yes, but you must be at least 18 years old to purchase the NSFW PDF.

How many writers will be accepted into the Zine?
We’re looking to accept about 15 writers for this project.

Will there be artist applications?
Because we are a writing-centric zine, artists will be invite-only for merch and cover illustrations.

What will the final product consist of?
The main Zine PDF, an NSFW PDF add-on (18+), and a bundle of digital merch.

What is the word limit for final submissions?
Our minimum word count for fics is 4k words, and the maximum word count is 12k words.

What is off-limits for the subject matter of my contributions?
The mods ask that you avoid problematic kinks and other potentially triggering content for the purposes of this zine.
Problematic content may include but is not limited to:
Non-Con, torture, gratuitous violence/gore, main character death, incest, minor/adult relationships, and beastiality.
If you have a question about whether something is problematic, please ask one of the mods.

Do I need Zine experience to apply?
Nope!

I don’t have many followers — is that okay?
Follower count is not a consideration in the applications. All account sizes are judged equally!

What are the mods looking for in my application?
We are looking for pieces that best showcase your strengths as a writer, with emphasis on narrative voice, grammar, and flow. A piece with Kirishima and Bakugou is preferred, but not required to apply.

What will the writing portion of the application look like?
Applicants will have the opportunity to submit 3 works, each of which can be up to 4k words. So, you can submit a total 12k words, whether the examples are complete or excerpts. We just ask that you submit at least one!
If you are applying as an NSFW writer, expect to include at least one example of your NSFW work.
There will be an answer form where you can include the tags, ship(s) (if any), and content/trigger warnings (if any) for each submission.
You'll also have the option of linking your portfolio, whether it be a Wattpad account, AO3 profile, a writing Tumblr, a thread of threads on Twitter, etc.

Will I receive feedback as to why I was not accepted?
Unfortunately, the mod team will not be able to provide feedback.

I don’t have a KiriBaku fic. Do I still have a chance of being accepted?
Yes! Although we do prefer to see your portrayal of Kirishima and Bakugou, it’s not a requirement to apply or be accepted. However, if we’re debating between two applicants, we may lean toward the candidate who has shown us a portrayal of Kirishima and Bakugou.

Do the mods have Zine experience?
All of our mods have a varying degree of zine and bang experience. All relevant experience for our mod team can be found under the “Mods” tab on our Carrd. Our social media mod, Belle, is the only mod without zine-specific experience, but has relevant real-world experience and is very enthusiastic about the project.

Is the Zine for-profit or non-profit?
Lionheart is for-profit, meaning any profits generated by the project will go to the contributors.

What can I expect if I am chosen for the Zine?
You can expect regular updates and transparency from the mod team, as well as working closely with some amazing fandom contributors. Please be prepared to adhere to check-in deadlines, word count limits, and content guidelines.

I have a really specific question I can’t find the answer to.
Our CuriousCat is always open, and all of our mods are open to any questions you may have.
